9-3 middleweight mma competitor. Current unified middleweight champion. I was born in Edmonton and grew up in social housing on the island with a single mom on disability and younger brother (now deceased) and sister. I stayed out of the drug scene and got a baseball scholarship to UBC. I was poor my whole life and knew I wanted more. After a stint in investment banking, I decided that firefighter was my calling. I've worked as a Vancouver firefighter for the last 5 years. At UBC, I met my wife Jaime, who is a lawyer, and we now live in North Vancouver with our dogs. When baseball was done I needed something to fill the void of competition in my life and started practising jiu jitsu. I have a brown belt in jiu jitsu but mma is my passion. I'm the Five Star 185 champion and two-time Unified 185 champion.
